Who are eligible to trade stocks? How do I get started with trading stocks at Coinbase?

Currently, Coinbase Capital Markets (CCM) brokerage accounts are limited to U.S. residents only. A Coinbase account is required to open a CCM brokerage account. Learn more about how to open a stocks trading account here.

What type of securities will I be able to trade? What order types will be supported?

Coinbase Capital Markets (CCM) provides access to U.S. stocks and ETFs, supporting both one-time and limit orders. We will continue expanding the list of available stocks on an ongoing basis.

Does the platform support fractional share trading?

Fractional trading is available only for certain stocks and ETFs, please refer to the Fractional Share Trading Disclosure for details. Fractional orders can be placed only during market hours (9:30 AM – 4:00 PM ET).

Are there any fees involved? What will it cost me?

Coinbase Capital Markets (CCM) does not charge commission or fees for stock trades in your CCM brokerage account. We do not currently charge regulatory fees. Any future adjustments will be communicated transparently and ahead of time.

How long does it take for my orders to settle?

Trades typically settle T+1 (1 business day after the trade date).

Please note that the equities settlement process involves multiple intermediaries, making it more complex and takes longer than settling crypto assets.
