Mantra DAO is a decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem designed to operate across multiple blockchain networks. It functions as a community-governed platform where users holding the OM token can participate in decision-making processes that shape its development. The ecosystem integrates a reputation mechanism known as Karma, which assesses user activity and engagement within the platform. Mantra DAO aims to provide accessible DeFi solutions, including staking, lending, borrowing, and governance participation through a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) structure.
Mantra operates using a delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS) consensus model, allowing users to stake OM tokens to support network validation while earning rewards. The platform runs on the Rio blockchain, which is interoperable with the Polkadot network. Users can engage in peer-to-peer lending and borrowing, stake their assets, and participate in governance by voting on protocol upgrades. Mantra DAO also features a savings-based lottery mechanism called the Mantra Pool, where participants have the opportunity to win cryptocurrency.
Mantra DAO seeks to provide a range of DeFi services, including asset staking, lending, and borrowing. The platform facilitates governance through OM token voting, allowing users to shape protocol developments. Its Karma reputation system tracks user contributions and may impact staking rewards. Additionally, Mantra offers a gamified savings tool, Mantra Pool, which provides token holders with a chance to win rewards. The network’s interoperability with Polkadot aims to support cross-chain functionality for decentralized applications.
The OM token serves as both a utility and governance asset within the Mantra DAO ecosystem. It enables users to participate in governance decisions, stake tokens for network validation, and access DeFi services such as lending and borrowing. OM tokens are also used in Mantra Pool, where participants enter a savings game with the potential to earn additional rewards. A portion of OM tokens is periodically burned to manage supply and maintain token scarcity.
Mantra DAO was conceptualized in late 2019 and officially launched in early 2021. The whitepaper was released in June 2020, outlining the project's goals and governance structure. The platform was co-founded by John Patrick Mullin, Will Corkin, and Rodrigo Quan Miranda. OM has a total supply of 888,888,888 tokens, designed to support its ecosystem of staking, governance, and DeFi applications. Mantra DAO continues to expand its interoperability and integrate with blockchain networks.
