The Platypus Finance protocol is a one-way automated market maker (AMM) decentralized exchange (DEX) platform designed to trade stable cryptocurrencies on the Avalanche blockchain (ERC20 tokens). An AMM is a tool utilized to supply liquidity (token pool) in decentralized finance (DeFi) without the intervention of a third party to set the price of an asset.

The protocol aims to prioritize censorship resistance, security, self-custody, and maximum capital efficiency as a set of smart contracts. Platypus provides a single-token provision, where traders can purchase a single PTP token to seek to eliminate the risk of impermanent loss for liquidity providers. The feature also seeks to minimize the risk of slippage for traders, where market fluctuations occur more quickly. 

According to the whitepaper, the fundamental principle behind Platypus's design is asset-liability management (ALM). Most DeFi protocols today do not include liability concepts. Using the concept of ALM, Platypus seeks to enable the native token to grow organically (as per its demand and supply in the crypto market). This design is referred to as "Extendable Liquidity Pool."

Platypus Finance uses PTP as its native token. When staking Platypus, it generates vePTP, the voting escrow token, which aims to increase the rewards of the token holders. vePTP can be generated by staked PTP. vePTP is not transferable or tradeable.

In the stablecoin pool, there are currently four tokens. Users can farm their governance token, PTP, once liquidity mining is live or share the 0.01% transaction fee collected from asset swaps in the future. 

Apart from this, the composition or size of a liquidity pool compared to previous generations doesn't significantly affect the single-sided tokens, even in bulk. As a result, the project aims to ensure that adding or removing new tokens to the pool is done organically, seeking to secure 100% exposure to the single-asset pool.
